Grassland Water District Real Time Monitoring Program
Water Supply
December 13, 2022
Grassland Water District (GWD) has received notification from the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) that the forecasted full natural inflow into Lake Shasta for the current water year is projected to be less than 4.0 million acre-feet (AF). Pursuant to the GWD water supply contract with USBR this condition requires USBR to deliver 75% of GWD’s Level 2 water supply (93,750 of 125,000 AF). Water supply updates will be posted at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/cvp-water/index.html. USBR also estimates that they will acquire 34% of the GWD Incremental Level 4 water supply (22,000 AF/ 55,000 AF), bringing the overall GWD supply to 64% (115,750. Given this limited supply, GWD has allocated its landowners1.5 AF/acre based on total assessed acreage.
UPDATE – Recent storms are providing additional water supply that may be available to landowners, which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact your water tender for more information and to request additional water.
